It is primarly a winter steelhead run but the Salmon fishing is excellent so you might have a chance to fish for kings. STS has an artical about fishing tidewater for kings, some of the pictures are form the Chetco.

From Brookings, you're ~ 30-45 min from the lower Rogue. May be worth a try for summer steelhead, or salmon
