I took a pair of Cloudveil's Two Trigger gloves on a recent one-week float trip in Alaska, and they became an instant hit with me.

The Details

These gloves are fingerless in the thumb, forefinger, and index finger. "Fingerless" is not entirely accurate, since the Windstopper fleece covers the first joint.

The cuffs are neoprene and fit snuggly but not constrictively. The backs over the knuckles are a breathable wind-and-water resistant fabric that stretches when you grip the oars or your rod, but doesn't bulk up when unflexed.

The palms are made of Clarino, a soft and supple synthetic leather, and are embossed with little Cloudveil logos that provide a good grip on the oars, something rowers will appreciate.

Everything appears to be double stretched with high-quality workmanship. They come in black, only. The gloves are machine washable/dryable.

Cloudveil also makes a similar glove without the "fingerless" feature.

Conclusions

The fleece provides good warmth for a glove of this nature, but not too much--an important feature if you're rowing a boat. Of course, once you get them wet they loose some of that warmth and begin to feel like . . . well, like wet gloves.

These gloves fit well and move well, without bunching or constriction. Workmanship is excellent, and I see no reason these gloves would not wear well under normal or even heavy use.

The Two Trigger gloves are the best fleece gloves I've used and have earned a permanent place in my gear bag. Anyone pushing the edges of the fishing season should consider them, especially if he or she rows a boat.

Bottom Line: Best fleece gloves I've tried. Great for rowing during cold weather. Reviewer Rating: 5
